...are we a third world country yet?

Every morning when I read or hear the news of fresh economic decline, jobs losses and our basket case currency I get further depressed.

Is there or will there ever be any light at the end of this never ending tunnel of gloom and despondency. I really fear we are on the road to nowhere and the frustrating thing is there is absolutely sweet Fanny Adams I can do about it.

sorry.....wrong forum....can an admin transfer this to the Pie and Piston fo me....thanks.

It's called a "recession", they have happened before and will happen again. There's nothing any individual can do about it.

Not while the idiots Broon is in charge of thee country.

The sooner we have a change at the helm, and a radical change in the way politicians think and government treats it's citizens, the better.

P.s.: Shirley this belongs in P&P

Meh, I'll start caring when anyone proves to me that this is any different from the last time, and the time before,...

Ultimately though you're right. Our standard of living, like the rest of the western world, is massively beyond our natural resources. It has got to drop, in both relatively and probably absolute terms, at some point.

Third world country?

So I assume you've got no (or unreliable) running water and power supplies to your house, no access to healthcare, difficulty in feeding yourself and family, possibly hyper-inflation, etc, etc.

Yes, we have our problems in the UK but we're vastly better off than most third world countries.

We haven't even got to the rioting part yet.

Lots more to come yet. yes

And if that sad-bd has been Billy Bragg doesn't sing "Three Million Voices" and call Brown a bd I want him hanged.

Yeah, it's not like we're a trillion-pound economy and the sixth largest in the world, or anything.

Will we ever see rioting in this country again? I don't think we will somehow. We'll bend over and take everything like the bunch of nancies we are.

I wish someone would tell Brown, because he must have clocked up more national debt in a few months, running like a headless chicken throwing money about, than the last 20 years put together.

'Great Britain' really ran out of steam during WW1, coasted on its laurels until WW2, and then gradually fell apart. A great deal of that has been since 1997 and the Blair years.
