Does anyone know of websites detailing places to stay, in San Francisco, for a month. I'm thinking short-let apartment / aparthotel / something like that, 1 bedroom for 2 people. For the whole of May this year.

A month in San Francisco! I presume you'll return here as a gayer/liberal spouting on about how we are all killing the planet with our global warming cars.......

Firstly, lucky bd! SF's my favourite city in the world (next to Inverness of course!). Accommodation is not cheap though. Try Craigslist.

The best city in the USA IMHO.
But if you drop a nickel on the sidewalk LEAVE IT.

I can't help on places to stay for a month but I was there for a couple of weeks in December and in addition to staying in the city we went down the Pacific Highway through some of the towns like Carmel and Monterey and then stayed at the Post Ranch Inn for a few days - it's very special if you want to spoil yourselves for a few days.

Amerisuites specialise in this exact sort of thing.

Haggle hard with them and you'll end up with a good deal.

Take a trip to Napa, and if you want to see the really strange part of CA drive up the Lost Coast to Eureka...
Definitely go south down the PCH. Grab the Ferry to Sausalito. Eat at Cafe Panisse in Berkeley..its cheaper than the main essto (Chex Panisse) and just as good. Grab oysters at the terminal building.

Mental place though. China town rocks..... Total nutters. Every street corner has something crazy going on.

Last time I was there we had to wait several hours to get into our hotel as there was a sniper on the roof shooting at the cops and the next day there was a very minor earthquake. All very normal apparently.

Really liked the place but Chicago was better if not fecking freezing.
