I've never met a real Christian, have you?

Oh I've met plenty of church-goers, even been myself a couple of times when I was younger. I've even met people who said they were Christians. Thing is, Christianity has a clear set of rules, which includes such things as 'loving thy neighbour' and 'turning the other cheek' (I could go on and on). Anyway, I have never met anyone who was even making a decent effort to comply with these rules, let achieving the full Christian thing.

Only one, a friend from college days. The rest I've met have either been psychologically damaged, or using it as cover for adultery. You can be a 'christian' - ie civilised - without sitting in a pointy house each Sunday talking to an old man on a cloud who's not really there.

I won't be naming him.We were in the middle of a business meeting with people from outwith our normal 'team' and when the conversation turned a bit less formal we got onto the subject of our ancestors and where they came from. These two quotes will stick in my head forever:

Christ said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." to prevent the stoning of a woman in the full knowledge there would be no-one there who could. Anyone out there ever met one?
Your question is flawed. No one has ever met sinless perfection - apart from the Apostles who met Christ. Even the newly born are simply "innocent". The rest of us are miserable sinners. If not in deed, then in word, if not in word, then in thought.
All that is required of a Christian is to want to do better. It is acknowledged that by ourselves we will fail and even with God's help it required Christ's sacrifice to atone for our collective wrongdoing.
Have you met Christians? Lots of them. Were they perfect? Not one.
my aunt and uncle, my grandmother, my parents for the most part. my catholic educated sisters are about the least Christian of the bunch. in it for themselves and their 'kind'. a bit cultish, very freaky.
btw, 'turn the other cheek' does not mean what most people think it means. it has nothing to do with being humble, but is about quietly standing up to those in power.

Looks that way, doesn't it! But does the murderer genuinely repent? Really? And if so...all they'd save is their immortal soul. Not their nasty murdering butt that will remain in jail for the rest of their lives. God forgives...man tends not to.
