Hi,

I want to promote my motorcycle racing exploits in 2009 in the vain attempt to snare some sponsorship.

The question is; if I set up my facebook account under the name of my bike racing team will friends still be able to find me easily if they searched for my own name?

I'm new to this so I haven't a clue.

Thanks

You would need to have your name somewhere in your profile.

Or register your account with your 'normal' email address that you use to email to your mates

Set up normal account in your name - then create a group.

I would go with a group rather than a profile, I have known some er 'non people' have profiles deleted as it appears a free way of advertising.

Hmmm, not sure people go on facebook to give money away...... better off starting your own page.

Why not just provide links to that? or start a group - sponsor me please!!!, put a twist on it(banks, recession, government etc), get loads of members, send it to the sun and get some national exposure and boom! they will be throwing money at you.

Bike sponsorship is pretty bad at the mo isn't it? Bennets, susuki, rizzla all pulling out of British.

We've just set up a page for soemething to do with work & sponsorship.

I'd recommend you set yourself up as an individual under your own name (so you don't run the risk of having it taken down if someone reports a fake profile) then create a Fan Page rather than a group. It does all the same stuff including photo album, videos, events listings and a discussion board but you can also set up reciprocal links to other pages which can make it easier to find - ie your Fan Page is a fan of Honda Motorcyles Fan page or whatever, and you can monitor daily traffic and visitors which you can't on group.

You don't have to pay for it unless you advertise using a paid ad system.
