Ok,so i've just washed my Mobile phone....

Apart from it looking cleaner than it ever has it's not working.Front and back have been taken off and i've had the hair dryer at it for ages.Do phones ever recover from this sort of abuse or has it had it?What specifically is it that the water gets into that damges the phone?Not that this would make much difference but it wasn't in the machine for long and it was a coldish wash.

Let it dry out naturally, might work, unless the battery shorted something out. Many moons ago I had a "Transister" radio, fell in the washing up bowl, dried it out, and worked fine.

Rinse out with de-ionised water and leave to dry, naturally, somewhere warm, in as many pieces as you can get it into.

You may get lucky.

A friend drowned his in beer once (it was still ringing while we were pissing ourselves laughing at it..) washed it in clean water that night and left it to dry for a few days in an airing cupboard, worked fine after.

Have you removed the SIM card too? take it apart as mush as possible. I'd stop using the hairdryer, and let it dry naturally in a warm room.

Problem is, water on the circuit board, 99% of the time it will fry (as in short) the board. If you're really lucky the phone will work once totally dried out. But i'd be thinking of a new one

I have never done this before,It was a complete one off that i was out with the phone at all.I was out on motocross bikes al day and thought mmm,i'll take the phone incase there's a fatality,as you do.Then when i got home my gear was totally covered in mud.Cue the other half,"you're not coming in here like that!!,i'll wash your gear".Me knackered flakes out on the settee and before i know it i wake up to hear the washing machine going!Mind you it was in a rather secretive little pouch in my jacket.

stuffed as far as warranties go, but i have heard of them changing just from humidity.

Back to the phone, the easy way is to wash it in distilled water (as this shouldn't leave behind any minerals) or better still, distilled water, then rinsed in IPA (alcohol (isopropyl alcohol, not Indian Pale Ale)) which will remove any water

try it, and if it doesn't work, smash it with a hammer and take out all the interesting bits

Ahh right ok. Well if its a nokia you have a fair chance of it working providing you dry it out for 24 - 48 hrs before attempting to use it.

ok, maybe there was a syntax error there, the second option was distilled water AND rinsed in pure alcohol, but that's a little harder to come by.

If the phone was on when you washed it, it's a toss up between the battery shorting itself and the phone out, or the battery killing itself quickly without damaging the rest of the phone.

Hair dryer, bad idea. Directing heat at it will just cause stuff it expand and contract. As you had washy soapy water in it, wash with de-ionised water, and leave it to dry in an airing cupboard or similar. Leave it in situ for a few days. (Min 72 hours) Do not be tempted to use the battery again, as it managed to not to kill the phone initially, it will happily have another go if you put it back in.

I had a phone that I accidentally dropped into a cup of water that was beside my bed (I was sick). I dried it out but it never did recover.
