In 1985, BBC showed a one-off documantary also called "D-Day to Berlin". It was narrated by BBC reporter, Robert Harris (now a best selling novellist).
The great thing about this programme is that it was made up entirely of colour film - film that had been shot by a second unit set up by Hollywood director George Stephens. Stephens, like many Hollywood directors, had been seconded to the US Army to shoot documentaries and propaganda films. Most of those films were shot in black and white. However, on his own initiative, and out of his own pocket, he took some colour film stock with him and shot the footage for his own use. The footage remained unknown until Stephens dies in the late 1970s and was discovered by his son. The film was then restored and shown for the first time in 1985. It's fascinating to watch.

This programme does get repeated from time to time on the various history channels and I would highly recommend it.
