More interested in the N97 I think.

For those that don't know what a 5800 is, here you go:

Nokias first touch screen phone. Another one is being released later in the year the N97 with a slide-out keyboard.

Looks good but as I have been with Apple for a while now an awful lot of my music library is in their locked format so anything other than an iPod or iPhone is a bit useless to me.

Quite a few proper reviews on the web, seems well specced for the price, including wifi, can be got for around £240 sim free.

You may not know, but Apple have recently ditched DRM which is the locked music format you mention. You can upgrade all of your tunes for a small fee through iTunes, so you can use them on any player. I'm a bit of an Apple fan myself and have an iPhone 3G, but all my music is DRM free now so I can use it on anything.

Dont buy it from them and enjoy the freedom!

Or just download them for £0 off usenet.

It was released in the UK on Friday. I am waiting for Orange to offer it as an upgrade in the next couple of weeks. Meantime I was hoping for some feedback as to how good/bad it was in real terms.

I always use this site for phone reviews.

Thorough reviews and then owners add their comments too

I had an iphone for 4 weeks and didn't like it at all, swapped it for one of these and never looked back - it's fantastic:

I had an Omnia as an upgrade from T-Mobile a couple of weeks ago. Sent it back two days later. Seriously underwhelmed.

Horses for courses, I guess smile

The big problem with this phone is that it is the iPhone and that this one isn't!

It can do a fair bit more but it is not nearly as intuitive or slick as the Apple, it also feels a £100 quid or so cheaper which in fairness it is.

The screen isn't nearly as responsive as the iPhone which can make it frustrating, I find myself having to do everything twice which is rather annoying.

I'm giving mine a few more days before sending it back unless anybody wants to buy it off me! wink

Girl at work has one, she is a fool with technology, so asked me to have a play and see how it worked..

It is pretty good, however I found that the screen is not as sensitive to touch as others I have used..

The phone feels like its hollow, its quite large and seemingly light. I don't think it would withstand an impact anything like as well as an apple. Other than that it seemed to have nokia's straight forward menu etc.

I did play with the map stuff, it seemed slow, but it may have been on WAP as opposed to wireless, I don't know.

I would never buy one as touch screen phones take ages to navigate around and I like my phones to be hard wearing.

By default the maps get downloaded as needed. You can get a map downloader for your pc and get them onto the phone via broadband which is a lot better.

But the iPhone is synonymous with cracked screens after the lightest of drops or pressure applied.

Well I think this would end up like a smashed plate if I dropped it. The plastics feel cheap, and the rear of the phone isn't even held in place with a button or switch, its pressure from what I can see.. so that means it would come off every time it took a drop..

Fair enough, I will tell her, she probably will continue to use her sat-nav as it is more up to the job I should think.
