Turning to religion
Discussion
Although as an atheist i'd say no, i can see where the guidance and advice might be good, but i don't think sitting around praying will cure your problems.
There is the CAB for most of the usual stuff, you aren't the first person to be having a tough time so there is help and understanding about for anything

Nothing wrong with a one to one chat with your local priest if that is what's needed imho. They were offering the emotional crutch long before social workers and 'trick cyclists' were invented and they are much better at it.
(unless its an old school 'fire and brimstone' priest in which case what's your poison he'll join you
.)

He's right you know! But once you have a ladder, why not try religion. It's been around for a while, many people find it useful, give it a go. Nothing to lose, unless you're thinking of joining a sect...Good friends are sometimes not the right people, because they know you (or think they do). When you're deep in it, the advice of strangers can sometimes be the most useful.
Or you could tell all of PH about your problems and get ripped to shreds in public

Just wondered if anybody had turned to religion to help sort their troubles ? Currently in a rather large hole and i would prefer this to drink ...
If religion helps you in times of trouble, go for it!If counselling helps, go for it!
If posting on PH helps, read on!
If going for a run early in the morning helps, do it!
Whatever you do , stay off the booze.

Talk to your doctor...he/she may be able to suggest a counselling service where you can talk to someone about your worries/troubles/thoughts. I never thought it would help...but talking to a stranger means they only know what you want them to know. They can also be very honest, and say things as they see it (ie another point of view)....something your family and friends sometimes can't do. I've have had several sessions, and it does help to clear your head (for a short time anyway)
