I thought I was immune to the 'Credit Crunch'.....pah!
Discussion
I have a job. A safe job. With guaranteed income. Always.
Feeling smug and fortunate since all this credit crunch malarky has kicked off, I didn't think I would be affected. Fool.
This weekend luck has sent it's fickle cousin sneaking in through my door. And he was carrying a note which said "Welcome to the credit crunch".
f
ker.
My wifes useless ex-husband is now unable to support his two children and therefore I am now entitled to pay for the privilidge. Thanks you,
.
And the CSA's reaction? "Nothing we can do!" Tosspots.
So upshot is.......I am now supporting 3 kids, paying out to the CSA for another, and supporting a wife who is about to give up work in a week to start training as a student midwife.
Thanks God, you cheese-wheel-headed mong.

Ah well, surely you knew that this might be an option given you shacked up with your good lady knowing she already had 2 kids.
My sister (who has 1 kid) has spent the last 10 years watching her ex husband pay s
te amounts in dribs and drabs and always complaining he has no money. To be fair to her, she's never said a bad word about him infront of junior. I think he will work out for himself what a useless cretinous father he has.

I can just picture the face of the CSA desk clerk "Oh another self employed builder who's got no money and we've no way of proving otherwise, that's alright the wifes new fella is a crabfat we'll just grab some more off of him" rubber stamp, job done, next.

quite.Part of the reason I'm leaving late next year to become a civvy. then I'll just blend into the pond. However, i'll be at the point where I've almost finished paying by then anyway.
It's like a double kick in the 'nads, paying all these years then earning the privilidge of paying for someone elses kids.

To be honest it's not exactly put us on the bread line, but I'm resenting the fact that the "CHILD SUPPORT AGENCY" hasn't exactly fullfilled it's job description seeing as I've paid out somewhere in the region of £50k over the last few years, never missing a payment.
Is the CSA actively chasing you to pay for kids that aren't yours? Or is it more a case of he can't pay and you're conveniently on hand so they won't starve.mechsympathy said:

Well, he's stopped paying so guess who the breadwinner is?I know it's my 'duty' as such, but I can't help feeling resentful.

I don't blame you. Do they live with you, or are you having to give him the cash?ETA Now you have more dependents, does the CSA allow you a bit of slack with your payments?

Is there any kind of benefit you can claim for this? I know the benefit is a dirty word, but perhaps for once it'd be due here?
no. As I said above we are still comfortable financially and it's not really about the money. It's more the principle.I'm pissed off that all our plans and finances are being affected by someone who isn't even our responsibility.
I hate the way the CSA now pull the "nothing we can do" card because it suits them.
