And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why coming off your meds against the doctor's advice is a bad, bad, idea.

The French (and us) won't import American beef because it's stuffed with Mr Monsanto's finest artificial growth hormones which makes men grow tits and women extra hairy balls. In return America has increased the tax on a cheese 99.8% of it's population has never heard of and 99.9% have never tried. That'll teach 'em! biggrin

How so? You think that with everything going on in the world, the fact the yanks and French are playing the 'tax foreign food up to the eyeballs so its really expensive and people buy domestic instead' game, is really a world stopping event. Its a fking cheese for Christ sake!
If it was a tax on French cars, champagne or meat as a whole, then I'd get it but its cheese, not even all french cheese, just one bloody brand!

Companies selling such cheese to the US may now go out of business. How is that not a world-stopping event for them? Particularly as in your last post you're whinging about 'companies going out of business left right and centre'?

'tard.

100's (if not probably 1000's) of people employed in the Roquefort industry. One of the largest export markets in the world. 300% tax increase. Job losses. Bankrupt companies.

Grow a brain before posting a load of utter ste.

Erm, if you read the article the tax is on a range of european goods (Not British ones though as our government is happy for us to eat chemicals.) but for some bizarre reason they've singled out Roquefort for extra tax.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot the huge dependance the French cheese market has on American sales. The yanks are so patriotic to their own brands that I highly doubt the loss of sales from America would cause the French cheese making sector to fold.
Eat a lot of Roquefort do you?

Oh, so now the fact that 'companies are going out of business left right and centre' doesn't matter, does it? Make your mind up love. I was talking about individual companies, I don't think anyone knows what on earth you're talking about, including yourself.
