I'm organising the Summer Fair at the school that my daughters attend.
One of the parents mentioned it might be fun if the Red Arrows could do a flyby.
I remember a thread ages ago that mentioned that you could contact the RAF, and if they were doing a display near your neighbourhood, you could request that they "pop over" on their way.
Can anyone confirm that this is possible, and how to go about fixing it up??

Cheers,
Simon.

And here was me thinking it would be a link to a petition to protest about them being scrapped or banned from the Olympics or threatened by the ending of block exemption biggrin

A few years ago I went to a small village fete.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire did a couple of passes, the whole village stopped to look, and the pilot did the Merlin proud. I was sure that the low fly limit was a lot higher wink

Days later I asked how they had got managed to get it and was told they just asked.
The Spit' was on it's way back from somewhere else.
Remember these guys don't fly them because they have to.

You got two chances. None and F**k all. The red arrows don't do village fetes unless you happen to have a marshal of the RAF living in the village.

They might do a fly past if they are flying in the area at the exact time you want it, but they will not go out of their way. (Unless you know someone who likes to ponce about in a red gro-bag.)

I'm pretty sure that's what the OP was asking? i.e. how he could get in touch to see if there was a possibility of a fly by on their way back from a show!

Unless you are willing to move the fete time to when they can do it, then the chances are exceedingly slim however. I wouldn't want the OP to get their hopes up.

I would think chances are slim too. But, as with so many things in life, if you don't ask to start with you certainly won't get.

The leader of the Red Arrows comes from the small town where I live - regular fly pasts/plumes in the summer en route to wherever (suppose it helps his parents still live here too ;-) ).

If you don't ask.....

I think it's really cool when you get advanced notice in the local rag, ie 'the Red Arrows are due to fly past this Saturday at approximately 14.23 hrs' - you could set your watch by them.
