Two cables from a Sky dish?

How would I connect a second cable from a Sky dish to go to another room? Are there extra 'ports' on the dish itself or would I have to buy some kind of adaptor? Could I take a 'feed' from the existing cable somehow using a Y connector or whatever? Not really up to speed on Satellite cabling!

Do you have Sky Plus? - If so, you need both connectors from the LMB.

No, just a normal sky box.

If not what you need is a multi LMB - I would go for a Quad, this will give you 4 outputs - So, that would be 2 for sky+ and a couple of spares.

and just incase you knock it slightly also buy a cheap alignment meter.

ah, thanks for that. I assume this replaces what is currently atthe back of the dish or does this plug into the wall socket where my current cable comes into the house?

If you aren't doing the 2nd box route Sky boxes have 2 output sockets 1 is used to go to the main TV the other is unused, just connect the second one up with coaxial cable and run the it to where you need it. Then just buy one of the extra remotes that come with an infra red TVLink plugin for the extra TV and you can control the Sky box on the 2nd TV.

You can't split a Sky cable as the box sends signals to the LNB to 'tune' it. So two boxes would conflict with each other.

What you do is buy a multiple-output LNB, as others have linked above, and replace the one on your dish with that. Usually you get quad-output ones, so you can connect up Sky+ to it (that uses two feeds) and two normal boxes, or four normal boxes etc.

So, if I installed a quad LNB, could I then run a cable off that to a freesat receiver into one room while still maintain the skybox in the other?
