Plumbing help - shower

Hi guys, appreciate any help.

So far, had no luck in actually getting a plumber to turn up, the 4th one didn't show today. What's more I'm fed up of having a fking cold shower in the morning.
I have a Bristan surface mounted shower, no pump. It has two dials, outside is the valve and the inside, temperature. According to bristan, I need to replace the cartridge, I have the new one. Problem is, I can't get the old one out, I can get a tiny amount of movement but it won't shift. Tried using a a screwdriver up through where the hose attaches, to try and lever it out, as suggested by bristan, but still no go. Any ideas ???

I've got two of these bding Bristan showers in my flat, and both have needed new cartridges twice in the last year. One of them is starting to leak again. I had a look at doing the job myself, but had the same issue removing the dials. The two small holes near the hose appear to need a special screwdriver though so I ended up calling a plumber.

Not much help, but I can empathise...

Thanks, have the dials off, no problem, just can't get the damm cartridge out, trind for about 2-3hrs so far and getting nowhere. Probably need to be a little more heavy handed but don;t want to break anything.

Quite happy for a plumber to do it, but they just haven't turned up - as mentioned the 4th didn't turn up today. Guess I'l look up a 5th tomorrow then ...

Thanks, yes, I might try some of the suggestion - removing from the wall did cross my mind, then gently tap the cartridge out from behind. Was trying to avoid this as it means messing around with the joints.

Oh well, I'll have a look at the weekend.

From memory, its a long necked screwdriver needed, about 4mm allen key head.
Its a pig to locate, but when taken out, it should pull out cleanly, DONT force it, as mine was truly fked afterwards!!

The insurance actually covers more than our shower.....

And anyway, you can't replace your shower for £300 because you can't get a plumber out to do it.
