Anniversary Help please
Discussion
This valentines will see my mum 'celebrating' her wedding annivesary for the first time without my dad, I would like for her to know that I understand this day is both important to her and has not passed without some kind of acknowledgement, I was thinking of buying a rose, but have exhausted all name related possibilities I can think of.... the only vague connection I can find is a rose called dad.
Any thoughts as to what else I could do, or how a get a new variety either commissioned or named?

WOW!
I was not expecting that!
I was expecting to see something like "I've forgotten my anniversary, my wife is gonna hit the roof".
I cant help with the flowers I'm afraid, but whatever you do, I'm sure your Mum will appreciate it massively!
How very thoughtful of you, well done Mate! It's things like this that restores my faith in Humans.

You can call the star both there first names. Always together then, and always remembered when you look into the night sky.

I've looked at those, it apprears you only get to name the bush, as opposed to commissioning a variety.I've often wondered how you can get an actual rose variety named so I look forward to reading the answer, I hope.
Also look for other plants, such as clematis, camelias, etc. The RHS Plant Finder is pretty good. Try putting in your dad's first name and see what it comes up with.
When my ex-boss left work I bought her a rose called 'Sarah' (her name!), which I found on that website but there's plenty of other plants to choose from.

Is this any use: http://www.lastminute.com/lmn/pso/catalog/Product....
I was browsing on Lastminute & had the same thought (lost my dad last year, thought mum could plant the rose in their much loved garden). Basically you get the unnamed seeds with a unique ref number, when you choose the name it is placed on a registry.
Let me know if you find anything better, it's definitely an idea I want to follow up for my mum
