Ladies of PH - Afternoon tea, where is best?

For the OH's 30th birthday, I'm trying to arrange afternoon tea for her and 3 of her best friends.

But where in London is the best place? Is it Claridge's or is there somewhere else better?

Did see that one, but it's a department store. I'm sure it's great, but for some reason it doesn't seem right that it's not in a hotel.

Frotnums has a fantastic restaurant/tea room at the back on the ground floor. And then they can go shopping afterwards and spend some of your hard earned cash

I took my friend to the Ritz for her birthday, it was lovely. Saw Alan Titchmarsh there.

My GF likes afternoon tea so we have it quite a lot, Fortnums is good, Harrods is average any of the top hotels will be nice (The Dorchester, The Ritz, The Savoy (although I think it's closed for refurb at the moment), The Mandarin Oriental).

Make sure you look reasonably smart if you go to one of the hotels.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look. I'm guessing that as it's not something they do a lot of most things will be fine.

Browns Hotel in Dover Street, W1 (iirc). They will keep on bringing refills of sandwiches, cakes and tea until you are on the floor begging for mercy!
