Recommended read for buying shares?...

Ph, can anyone suggest any books that go in depth about the world of buying and selling shares?
My friend has made a little cash buying and selling some, more by good luck than anything, he now wants to read up some more and go a little more in depth, can anyone suggest some good books?
If it helps he's currently using self trade to but and sell, cheers.
