Carphone warehouse cheap Nokia 5800 loophole.

Thanks to all earlier who provided me with an 02 payg number in no time at all to allow me my new shiny phone.

The Nokia 5800 is realised today, it is available from nokia for £249 plus delivery. Having seen one in action on monday i decided i had to have one.
The carphone wharehouse have it on contract and pay as you go and sim free. Sim free is £290. However as i discovered if you have an 02 payg number (any valid 02 payg number of the free sims or a friend on 02 payg) you can have what 02 call a payg upgrade. The upshot is you can get the phone for £210. For a brand new flagship phone from nokia this is an astonishing price.

Even better i used the 250 euros i got bumped of my work flight to norway to pay for it, free stuff. Sweet.

are they locked - the o2 ones?

I've just got off the phone to a young chap from 02. Regarding the 5800, he said that they haven't got any of the settings for that yet, and as such PAYG customers won't be able to use internet or pic messaging apps. He wasn't able to say when they would have this, and he may have been misinformed...
