Want a new downstairs toilet fitted

Does anyone know how much (rougly) it would cost for someone professional to fit it? We've had an offer by a friend to fit a new toilet and sink for £50-70, and was wondering if that was a good price to pay.

In addition, we'd like it tiled. How easy would that be to do ourselves, or should we get someone else to do it?

Is there anything else to consider when looking at doing this?

£50 - £70 to have a loo and sink fitted?!?!? That's extortionate, they're ripping you off, ffs.

No more than a tenner round here and that includes all the tiling and a 500 year warranty....oh and they'll come and clean it every week too.

Thats a good price but it is seriously easy to install a toilet and sink. As for getting it tiled, are you wanting to get anything else tiled? It's better to get a tiler to have one big job as it will work out cheaper. BUT if you only want say just around the sink and half way round the wall it would be cheaper to do it yourself. HTH

Blimey - how cheap do you want it done for? Assuming your mate knows what he's doing then take him up on it. Normal would be £100plus.

Tiling looks easy, but its also very easy to get horribly wrong. If you do get it wrong then be prepared to pay to have the room stripped, skimmed & re-tiled. If you take some advice & take your time then it shouldnt be too difficult. Assuming its a normal sized (i.e. small) downstairs cloak, then about £200 labour (very approximate).

Don't just rely on B&Q etc. Try local suppliers.

Sorry I should have mentioned that this person is just 'a bit handy' at DIY, having done his bathroom twice, but is not a professional.

I don't trust myself to do anything DIY around the house. It took me just over a year to get the guts to get an LCD on the wall!

I'd ideally like a lot of the wall tiled, but not sure on how it will look, so will just probably keep to around the sink.

Yeah thats the same as the house i have currently now. Its a pain in the arse setup as nothing looks good. In the end I got a 99quid sink and toilet from B and Q. Now its just deciding on tiles!!! What a bloody nightmare!!!!!
