Was having a beer with a mate last night and as I went to get the next round he got his PDA/Blackberry/thingie/gadget out and started to type onto it. I was curious as to what he was doing, and he told me that he'd just typed in "I'm having a beer with shrubs". The conversation then developed and he told me that he 'twitters' 10 or 15 times a day so that other people will know what he's doing! I then asked the question "why do they need to know?" He said they were interested!

What the hell? The world is an odd place at times!

I use facebook and find it useful for keeping in touch with or contacting friends and family, and vice versa.

But constantly leaving status updates and taking countless pictures on nights out to post on facebook almost straight away is pretty childish. And this is men as well and women!

I hope the novlety wears off.

Oh dear. I bet he uses Facebook as well?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your 'mate' is now your 'girlfriend'. frown

I find it kind of strange when people do that, and also rather rude.

There are quite a few on my facebook that give a minute by minute account of there lives on the status update. I only tend to use this if i have something of comedy value to write up. Theres a few videos on here http://channelbee.com/move/gags#1379 that some facebook up for some. Facebooks great for keeping in touch with people that you don't get to see often though, my brothers in America so it helps me a lot. And also all of your old school mates you don't get to see often tend to be on there. Some just misuse it, my friend once took photos of us without knowing and posted these up whilst we were out for a few beers.

Girl that used to work for me is totally obsessed with Twitter. This is a genuine series of "tweets" she made:

17:45 Waters have broken

21:50 In the delivery suite, 6cm dilated

04:35 xxxxx born at 04:30 everyone fine

Why on earth I would want to know that? Freaks.

I posted on Facebook that I was having a st at work, and posted up a photo of myself in the cubicle (using an iPhone) to prove it. Is this so wrong? wink

No Sir, that is making proper use of the feature. Some people may have needed to know. Plus it's quite funny and not really seeking attention. It's when people start listing there whole life story.

Yep, much better than those new-fangled 'telephone' devices I've heard about. I mean why speak to your family and friends instantly and personally when you can log on to a site full of spotty teenagers and social inadequates and send them a highly impersonal ascii message? biggrin

Oh, god...how sad.

Is this a development of the status report that some people send with their Christmas cards..?

Kind of, it's more of a running commentary though. There are ways to make money from it, though,

I really couldn't give a st what other people are doing. Complete waste of time if you ask me. I also assume that no-one else gives a toss what I'm doing or how I'm 'feeling' at any given point in time.
