Doesn't anyone know how to draw our national flag anymore?
Discussion
Flicking through the TV channels this evening, I had the utter misfortune to stumble across Eurovision - your country needs you on Sky. Even if that awful little prat Norton wasn't presenting it, I would still have had an involuntary yell at the telly. Again.
Why can't anyone in media draw a Union Flag anymore? These clowns had a shot at it, but it's completely symmetrical, so completely wrong. I know this is pedantry, but this is our national flag, FFS. I wonder, how many channels in the US get away with putting the wrong number of stars on their flag?
This is now so common, you're almost more likely to see an inaccurate Flag than not. Channel 4 also did it in their trailers for that Great British Chef thing. The Flag was upside down.
Maybe these TV companies are actually trying to tell us that they are in distress (an inverted national flag is a martime distress signal). Or maybe they are full of incompetent t
ts who couldn't care less whether they lived in Slough or France.

The Union Flag is still the correct national flag - no matter what people might like to think - and should be treated with respect by the national broadcaster.

generally correct other than them perpetrating the myth that the union flag flow upside down is a distress signal, oh and calling it the "union jack"

I am sick of reading b
ks like that. It is impossible to "hang" a Union Flag upside down. Draw yes, but not hang because the red saltires are always going to be to the left of the white no matter what way you hang it because they are in the same position no matter which way you look at it.Just rotate this 180 degrees (upside down) and they will be in the right position again.

If you are correct; many, many web sites are wrong:The Union Flag is still the correct national flag - no matter what people might like to think - and should be treated with respect by the national broadcaster.

then it will be upside down.

Mirror your images about the horizontal line though, as in hang it upside down, not rotate it 180 degrees.
then it will be upside down.
But you can't do that with a real flag, therefore you can't fly a Union Flag incorrectly upside down because it's the same both ways.then it will be upside down.
I said you can draw a Union Flag the wrong way, which is the same mistake as your mirror but not fly

This site tells you how to draw a Union Jack correctly http://www.jdawiseman.com/papers/union-jack/union-... , but as this BBC page displays: there are no official guidlines or laws governing its use or design ashore - I once found a site with more info but can't find it again - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2981038.stm
