As part of the fitted kitchen we got in April 2007 we got a Whirlpool AKP 951 double oven installed.
All worked fine since then until the other day the Mrs was using the bottom oven bit and it tripped the breaker in the fusebox cupboard. I flicked the switch back up again & all seemed fine (i.e. the light inside the oven came back on + the clock on the display panel came back on too).
Mrs went to use it again today to cook tonight's dinner and although the fan is going + the light is on there is no heat.
Top part of the oven (which we use solely as a grill) is still working fine.
Any ideas? I'm going to call Whirlpool tomorrow morning and see about getting a service engineer out, I just wondered if anyone had similar experience & could offer some advice along the lines of "it's yer wassaname mate, gonna cost you a arm and a leg".

Doubt it will cost an arm and a leg, its probably just the element has burnt out.

I reckon it's the heating element in the oven. Burned out and the current surge tripped the breaker. Now the circuit is broken so the light and the clock will work but not the element.
Appliances like these are pretty simple but you have to get it out of the housing to take it apart. Once you get to the cause of the problem the element just unclips and the connections are by spades.
An oven is just an insulated box with a heating element.... How difficult can it be!?

Got an element for mine off eBay.
Turn off the electricity or at least the breaker for the oven/kitchen.
4 screws are visible when you open the oven door (single oven) these hold the unit in the cabinet. Undo these then carefully pull the oven out, hopefully the cables will be long enough.
A few screws should hold the back on, remove and you should see a element, a coiled hoop about 12 ins across. There will be electric wires attached by spade connectors to it.
Remove and replace element, put back on, replace oven and screw into place.
Turn power back on and you should be there.

Yep, do it yourself, 15 minute job tops. Might take you an hour if its the first time you have dismantled an oven or similar. Rule #1 - MAINS OFF!
Has to be £100 + parts to get someone to do it.
Aye, I may give it a try. The oven is plugged into a cooker socket underneath the worktop so it's easy to disconnect it. Has to be £100 + parts to get someone to do it.

New element arrived this afternoon, fitted in 10 minutes and all is sorted! Cheers guys 
Had one scary moment though - oven wont turn on unless the digital clock on the control panel has been set. No lights or fan inside oven (both were working before - just no heat) - i started to think i'd made it worse!
