0.5% down seemed to be the consensus from recent news articles.

Tonker's post is the other option I reckon, a cut of either 25bp or 50bp.

What is the interest rate in America at the moment?

How does this work in Europe? Is there a single interest rate in Europe due to the single currency or is it country controlled?

Sorry - newbie questions.

25bps this month and another 25bps next. If that doesn't work with the other fiscal measures being tried out then there will be panic in Downing Street... which is nice.

There's already panic in Downing St not least after the IMF blew the whistle on Slackjaw and Slugbrows comedy double act over the length and depth of Recession UK.

Down .25%

Allows them some room to continue to 'help' us over the coming months as positive news for borrowers.
