Highest run is at about 4000ft in the Nevis range. You'll find info re snowfall and runs open here http://ski.visitscotland.com/conditions/ (although it's loading very slowly for me atm)
It's not as good as the foreign resorts but it's still great fun. We were up at Cairngorm Mountain on 2nd January and although the conditions were quite icy, it was a good day out. One of the highlights was the 3 hour drive to get there from where we were staying - a blast on empty roads.

It doesn't feel like it, but you're right. Makes me wonder what my motivation is for going there rather than abroad.
