or a one off call out cost of between £150 and £200 depending on area i belive
to an existing fault? I suppose he could go a few days then call it in
I had their cover only 2 weeks when the boiler in the flat broke. Brilliantly they mis-diagnosed the fault as being the heatermatrix and I'd need a new matrix (esentially thats a new boiler). Plumbed in the new one after a few days wait (didnt care it was tennants that suffered) and bingo the fault was still there which they then fixed.

Actually thinking about it, BG will probably spin me the yarn about not having parts for my boiler (it's an old'un) and try and flog me a new system instead. That'll top it off nicely...
as I used to work for one of the best boiler parts distributors you aint half wrong.
When my heat exchanger faild they claimed to have none in stock and would need to special order one in. As it happend my old company were the ones that supplied these and we had loads in stock. My company warehouse was in fairford and the local BG guy could have just gone and collected one (as we supplied parts for BG). But due to how they operate the part had to be collected by BG and taken to their central warehouse up in the midlands somewhere then the engineer would have to go collect it on a given date.
He did, he then was told the part wasnt there yet. I kicked up merry f
k with them about it all and when I questioned why the engineer didnt check before set off if the part was in the warehouse I was told they are unable to do this.
It took almost 2 weeks to fix but I got a new boiler at their expense. Stand by your guns, if your boiler cannot be repaired their contract on 400 (from memory) is for an equiv replacement unless that neatheat is an old style boiler.

So, they've been today. And gone. And still no boiler 
After confirming and then reconfirming that the engineer would have all the info about my boiler, and be carrying spares relating to it, he turned up today - took a look at it, and said the immortal words...
"I need to order a couple of parts - I'll get it sorted and be back tomorrow or can do Saturday if you prefer."
TAKE A GOOD fkING LOOK OUTSIDE AND THINK ABOUT THAT. 
My feet are no longer of this earth. I also found out (as a result of this) that my immersion heater (in the hot water tank) is fubar.
I ask you, what have I done to deserve this? (apart from that one time at bandcamp).

BG once came out to me, said your water circulator's (heater) had it, parts are impossible to locate these days, but we can sell you a new one for £1500......I told him to feck off, bought the part for £15 locally, fitted it myself (thermocouple), not had any trouble since twelve years later.....

The fire's been going all afternoon in the lounge, but as it's an old edwardian house and the fireplaces aren't that big I'm afraid the output is pathetic.
As such, I'm off to make a paella and dig out a bottle of numb-the-world-around-me.
Considering the missus likes to regularly put the thermostat up to around the surface temp of the sun, I'm expecting some enjoyment when she gets in...
