Mrs A and myself went to see Seasick Steve at the Apollo last Saturday and had tickets for the Stalls. We arrived as the support act finished and were surprised at how hammered it was, as the headlining act began more and more people piled in and we began to get crushed against the back wall, we had to fight to get out, it was bloody awful. We've seen loads of gigs with much bigger acts than this and never experienced overcrowding like it, I saw a father and son struggling to get out and obviously distressed and a St Johns crew were caring for someone who had fainted. I complained to the venue manager but, as yet, have not had a response. I'm now rying to find a point of contact for Ticketmaster who sold us the tickest but can't find one.

Any advice gratefully received

Not much TM are going to do for you I'm afraid. They sold you the tickets but I wouldn't think they are responsible for crowd safety...

Other than the crushing, how was the gig BTW? wink

I am guessing the crowd were under the maximum capacity that is given by the council.

So it is the council that you need to complain to.

This has nothing to do with an independent ticket seller.

Yeah, I realise that but there's no harm in letting them know that the venue was over capacity. I've already emailed the Venue Manager but good idea on the Council.

I'd imagine it's the promoter you need to complain to, neither here nor there as far as TM are concerned surely?

Overcrowded, in your opinion maybe, but I would strongly doubt over capacity, as that brings about a whole load of regulations - fire, security, etc etc.

Better off writing to the venue manager as it is they who decide on layout, seating vs standing, ticket numbers etc

Response came back that they were under capacity by a couple of hundred and that the late arrivals combined with an unusually less crowded front stage area could have explained our predicament, no liability accepted but have a couple of free tickets as a gesture of goodwill. So....Gary Moore on May 2nd it is then
