I left school ten years ago now which I can't believe. I read something earlier which made me think about all the hilarious, naughty and sometimes disgusting little pranks we used to play on fellow pupils and the teachers. Here's my list, please add yours:

Bending cutlery double in the canteen
drawing pins on chairs
chewing gum in hair
Boris throwing (chewed up pulpy paper)
kneeing someone behind their knee
crouching behind someone whilst your mate pushed them backwards (dangerous)
blatantly groping girls
bunsen-burner flame-throwers
salt pot tinkering

I'm sure there's more...

  • Flicking ink from the end of a cartridge pen at other kids
  • Firing paper from elastic bands (Adam Keylock had to go to hospital as he got one in the eye. His Mum came to school and everything)
  • Set fire to the bin by sports centre
  • Making that childish but funny noise with a ruler on a desk (like a mini diving board)
  • Throwing people's school uniform in the shower during PE

We all had wooly hats on and scalfs on around our faces so you could only see our eyes.

Nailed any teacher we saw or came to tell us off with snow balls, this went on for about a hour. We all got caught in the end when they recogniosed us from our school bags.

10 of us got susspended not so good but looking back it was probably the best laugh i had at school.

I went to a school that had another, completely different scool on the other end of huge playing fields.

Every time it snowed, there would be the most humungous snowball fights between the schools.

Anyway, our stupid headmaster once tried to stop it. He walked into no mans land having stopped our side and shouted at the other school to go away. Loads of laughter from them and 400 snowballs lobbed at him, closely followed by 400 from our side at him as well.

Muppet.

Loveley.

Small pellets of chewed blotting paper inserted in a bic and then used as a blowtube. Good on a blckboard or ceiling.

Bunsen burner outlet on desk turned on and lit.

Remember riding my bike along the bike shed roof.

Used to tie a lads trouser leg in a knot on the inside of the leg. We used to work out which leg he used to put into his trousers first when putting them on, so we would do a knot in the other one. As he would hop about on the leg he had inserted into his trousers, vainly trying to push his leg into the knotted leg (if you see what I mean) we would bundle him out into the corridors and shut thedooor behind him.

I had a typewriter thrown at me for that. Made a hell of a mess.

Forced locker doors open and swapped all the contents around. Alternatively, swapped whole sets of lockers around.

I want to go back to school actually, it was so much fun.

two little scrotes broke into my old school the year we left and did this. the whole place burnt down and half the school had to be accomodated in portakabins for 2yrs until it was rebuilt at the cost of £6mill. one was 14, the other 11!

Not so much a prank, more like anarchy.

A group of four of us took our forks after lunch every day and hid them in some disused lockers. We were methodical; one fork per lad per day, no knives, no spoons. Forks washed and concealed.

Slowly, it dawned on the school that there was an irregular cutlery shortage. Eating and washing-up rotas were instigated to ensure adequate re-use of available forks, and there were serious words from the Headmaster in assembly. Marvelous.

No one got hurt. smile

Rubber band on the fire extinguisher and then a sharp tap to set it off. Oops.
The paper pellets fired from a rubber band was always popular. Glue in the lock (some rooms had a yale lock confused ) just before English. Random placing of transistors, resistors etc on circuit boards in Physics. Sawed through three legs and most of the fourth on a stool. gobbing onto banisters was a regular lunchtime activity.

Ruler under the legs when sitting down, as to pinch the back of the legs.

Bunsen burner plugged onto the water tap for an amazing water pistol

Our tour de-force was to liberally seed the playing fields with sunflower seeds on our last day before A-level study leave, oh that and the fish in the suspended ceiling of the sixth form commonroom on results day, and the superglue in the padlocks to the tennis courts...

Urban legend at the school claims a Mini was once driven through the corridors.

enter little jonny, who having done his "business", pulls the chain only to be greated with a couple of gallons of cold water coming from said cistern directly onto him.

Hmmmmmm where to start?

Hanging 1st years to the coat hooks by their collars
Drawing pins on seats.
Removing screws from desks/chairs and replacing them with matchsticks.
Dry ice in the toilets

And 3 that got me someone into real trouble:-
1) The setup for the thermit demonstartion had been set up in a sand bucket and was in the Chemistry lab, ready to take outside. Someone whistle decided to set it off in the lab! Cue hole in false ceiling and room full of smoke, and 6 of the best!
2) Wrapped banger up with layers of sellotape (louder bang!) and attached slow-burning fuse to it and left in a small alcove outside the dining room. Couple of minutes later the Headmaster came and stood in the doorway, arms behind back, surveying his realm! VERY loud bang about 3 feet behind him and...........nobody there! Hilarious! Cue 6 of the best again!!!! How did he know who it was ??
3) Removed tip from soldering iron, packed hole with match-heads, replaced bit and put iron in stand, facing upwards. Switched iron on and stood back!..........Why is it that these things always wait till a tutor walks through the door? You know the rest!

Wrapping a handful of calcium in a huge strip of magnesium ribbon, placing resultant ball on tripod, lighting the burner and walking away quietly without mentioning it to nearby classmates.

Similar effect to those phosphorus shells on the bags and coats left behind as kids fled the blinding light. Left epic shrapnel marks on the desk too.

Stealing someones shoe and tying it by the laces to the wire fence around the tennis courts with the tightest knots you could.

Making mini-crossbows that fired pencils by means of a strong elastic band.

Of course the obligatory bic pen blow pipes.

Takes you back ........

Blow pipes into the teachers / girls hair.

There was an idiot in my class who put wire into the plug sockets in the science lab then into his phone, turned it on to "charge it".
Took out the entire electricty supply in the science labs, the plug socket was black & he had a great new "fro".
Turning the gas taps on.
Pins through the bottom of the plastic chairs.
Putting the year 7's in the half size lockers.
Hiding each other's school bags up tree's etc.
Our math's textbooks had the answers in the back.
We'd be set 3 exercises to do, the teacher would leave for 15mins....
We'd copy the answers out the back & then mess around with all the apparatus (as we had our friday maths lessons in the science blocks).
Blocking up the sinks with tissue - then turning all the taps on.
We had a computer geek in our year, he fell out with a girl in our year.
Found out her username & password - got into her account & deleted all her GCSE coursework!
She had to do it all again - he got expelled!

We used to have a nutty professor style History Teacher. Once we all stayed dead silent and mouthed answers. He played with his hearing air for ages. Then we started shouting.

paperbag well we found it funny.

  • How about poleing ?
Grabbing an ankle each, arm each and running towards the bike shed pole (Really stupid and dangerous)

We went on a school trip but our boat was shipwrecked and we ended up on this island. It wasn't too bad to start with but in the end we killed the fat kid with a rock.
