Hi,

My mum is in hospital in Cheltenham and I promised her I would get down to see her this afternoon.
Is anyone in Cheltenham at the moment, what are the roads like round there. Would be coming down the fosse from Warwickshire.

have just spoken to my mum who lives in cheltenham, apparently its still snowing but is turning to slush but some of the main roads are still pretty bad, she's not gone into work, so dont know what the center of town is like.

ETA: golden vally (major duel carriageway from Gloucester to cheltenham) according to the radio is just one sheet of ice

I'm 20 mins from cheltenham. We've got about 6-7 inches at the moment, and all roads round here are impassable to all but Defenders with snow chains.
Sorry to hear about your mum.

Given your route I would not attempt it. Hope your mum is OK. My mum spent many a night there and was always well looked after.

Thanks guys, I spoke to her yesterday and she came out of her op late Wednesday and seems to be ok, she just wants to be able to sit up and look out of the window as she can't believe how bad it is outside but she said they only had 1 visitor on the ward all day.
I dont think I'll be going this afternoon as the roads round here are lethal, apparently our council has run out of grit and even the slip roads off the M40 are now closed!

Probably a bit late now but if you look at the webcam below it is situated right beside the hospital. The maternity wing is just off to the left of the shot, was there yesterday and keeping a close eye on the weather as our second one due in a couple of weeks!

You can see a slice of the road between the two buildings

Hope your Mum is ok

I live on the road next to the Hospital and went walking today, the roads are pretty good as long as you stick to the main routes. Everyone is being sensible driving so you should be fine.

Just reaslised its prob to late now, hope it went well if you travelled.

Do you realise that the British security service is probably also wishing your Mother well.

As I do of course.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I didnt get down today, managed to get through to the ward on the phone and spoke to mum. She said not to come if it was bad, and as guilty as i felt it wouldnt help if we ended up in different hospitals. I'll try to get down in daylight tomorrow.

Not sure why the security services are hoping my mum is ok though...

Think Mum will get better, was in a lot of pain today which was hard to see but hopefully will be getting better now. As someone else said she is in the right place!
