I've had a "weird" couple of days to say the least, in that I've basically felt anxious and nervous as fk for no good reason that I'm aware of.

I've been waking up at silly o'clock not exactly wide awake but unable to go back to sleep because I've felt anxious, but not actually about anything.

I don't think it's bad aids, but the thing that occurred to me is that the last few days I've hardly not had a cup of tea or coffee in my hand - this morning the departmental clerical/admin wasn't in so we had to get our own and shock horror I feel much better now after having a single cup of tea and a big glass of water.

Assuming she's not putting mercury in it, how feasible is it that it's too much caffeine?

Quite possible. I gave up Coffee for nearly a year. Usual thing Cigarettes+Coffee association so gave both up.

Anyhow I had a coffee and the head buzz was amazing it actually made me feel quite light headed and shaky.

Sounds like it might be the coffee. I ended up giving up coffee as I was so 'up and down' with it and at times a bag of nerves. I still drink tea but try and limit it to a few cups a day.

I thought I had a serious caffeine problem a few years back. I was drinking waaaay to much coffee. In the end it got me totally paranoid, I couldn't sleep or think anything positive. My whole life started to slide. Eventually I did what I should have done ages ago and went to the doc for some help. The first quesion he asked was how long have I been with my wife? Certainly fixed my paranoia over the coffee!

Life sometimes it's not what it seems biggrin

You also get headaches and the shakes if you are a heavy caffeine drinker and then suddenly give up. So be careful if you want to give up too!

my flat mate drinks circa 5 cups of coffee a day, drinks redbull regularly (well the cheap stuff as he's a chav - not mutually exclusive i know) and smokes, and he's generally a mess, a lesson to us all..

It's actually Tea for the most part, with the odd Coffee.

That's just fking scary frankly if "only" too much Tea can have that effect so quickly - I've never done drugs and I don't think I've ever tried Red Bull.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it's Tea - it's a mental association thing I think, Coffee = Caffeine, Coke = Caffeine, even though I *know* Tea = Caffeine I never seem to think about it same as I would if someone put six cans of Coke in front of me and said "There, drink them today".

to a point, whether its caffeine or not, its failing to see the wood for the trees to view it in just those terms

i found the answer:

"Generally, cups prepared from instant coffee contain less caffeine (average 65 mg) and cups prepared by drip methods contain more caffeine (average 110 mg). Cups of tea average about 30 mg, but the range is also largeþfrom 10 to 90 mg"

Have you by chance had any palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, or a difficulty swallowing?

...shortly after consuming a rather sporting Lamb Phall, with Chilli Rice and a Chilli Naan Bread?

I used to drink up to 12 cans of redbull a day, was having panic and anxiety attacks all the time. Didnt think the two were related till my doctor refered me to the primary care mental health team. They asked me about everything in my life, when they found out about my redbull problem it had to be kicked. They took me off the redbull and the anxiety went away but i had withdrawal from it so had to be put on diazepam for 6 months just so i could calm down.

The myth comes around from the fact that tea leaves have more caffeine by volume than coffee beans, but you use less of it per cup, so coffee has more caffeine in it...

hehe

I've done similar before (i'm a computer programmer, we like doing it).. Quite nasty actually, made me feel a bit delirious, not quite up to the panic attack stage but almost smile

Oddly enough, unhealthy amounts of caffeine explains why i'm posting at such an ungodly hour.

(deadlines.. grumble)
