Disturbing !? No not really.
The guy is an idiot and appears to be one of those people that doesnt think. 5minutes of discussion would have him calling a different tune no doubt !!
Does anyone today change their position in an argument? The guy is an idiot and appears to be one of those people that doesnt think. 5minutes of discussion would have him calling a different tune no doubt !!
And usually by working through some logical steps, rather than by forcing the idea from the outset.
For instance, with this guy the first question to put to him could be Does he report to his wife/mother before he does anything such as go out !? A simple and on the face of it silly question but one which introduces the principle of freedom from scrutiny.
People like that you just want to shake their head until their eyes rattle.
I really don't understand how anyone can advocate handing more power and control to the government.
I beleive in a system of equilibrium. People in power will always want more power and control. It is the peoples job to ensure this does not happen.

The scary thing is this guy isnt alone out there. There are people who would sell their granny for their own security and self belief that everyone is a terrorist.
In the words of Frankie benjamin...They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security
Or even more apt in these time.....We cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.

The guy who wrote the comment is clearly a complete idiot and so will never be persuaded otherwise.
You can never win an argument with an idiot as they are too stupid to know they have lost.

People like that really do worry me. Freedoms are eroding almost on a daily basis, and people like that seem determined to speed up the process.
I keep re-reading his comment to see a glimmer of sarcasm.-

You seem suprised that cretins exist in modern society?
I know there are plenty of cretins in our society, queue the noddy in the car that got upset with me earlier for no reason and then tried to chase me round town in his noddy car. I don't do this whole "let me intimidate and chase you round town" thing, so we just had this slow motion car chase through a 20 mph zone in the rain at 12 mph. He eventually turned off to the council estate. But what is worrying about that poster is that he doesn't even see how stupid his thoughts are. He thinks freedom to travel is an earned privilege. There are student politicians from the 70s that we thought would never amount to anything, but they are today's Cabinet.
What do they get out of it? Why do they actively want to see the country go down this route? I honestly don't get where the gain is for them.
As for Jeremy Vine, I don't even listen anymore. I'm sure normal people phone into him, but he only puts the utter morons and the left wing middle class apologists on the air. The classic the other week about the Golliwog scandal I read about here on P&P was a classic example.
