Goodbye Lady Flashman, hello depravity...
Discussion
Well, it finally happened. Lady Flashman is now ex-Lady Flashman (officially), after a year of difficult relations, the car accident finally changed things enough that it had to be called a day. I have behaved badly throughout this relationship, even cheating on the poor girl once, and frankly I really couldn’t expect that it could carry on. She had a bad accident, and while it confirmed how strongly we feel for each other, it also made us focus on what we want out of life. Clincher was her asking me if I could live up on my promise to move in with her. I couldn’t. So she red carded me. Despite us both still being in love with each other, she’s had enough.
So, at the age of 31, I’m back to singledom. Celebrated on Saturday night by picking up some random in a club but, to be honest, it felt a bit pointless. So a couple of months in the gym and getting myself back in shape (luckily started that mission on 1 Jan and it’s going remarkably well - this watching what you eat thing really works; can't believe I've never done it before), catching up with friends, and, of course, setting up potentials for when my appetite returns fully.
That said, I have been having a bit of a think about my next stretch of single life and have realised that now, in my early thirties, the stakes are probably higher. So I am going to deal with this by making this the least serious phase of my single life. It’ll be like a dating challenge – I shall try all of the things I have never tried before (internet dating, speed-dating etc etc) as well as the more conventional routes, with the pure aim of having as much irrelevant, meaningless sex as possible. Start date for this little crusade shall be the end of February, I think. Rules – no more friends (been through all the ones that would have me anyway, and it ends up messy as this current situation proves), and no more work colleague (new job and position means that would be a bad idea)
I am starting with this year’s Valentine’s day. I realise that it’s before my start date, but it would be rude not to screw up in some horrific way, given my past history with this most auspicious of days. So I’m going to an anti-Valentine party. Which will be full of very bitter people. And me, drunk.
So, troops, assume formation. Captain Flashman will hopefully have something for you to read, digest, and inwardly cringe at, relatively soon.
On a more serious note, John Lennon was a lying sod. Love is not all you need. You need maturity, dignity and commitment too. If you lack these, make sure you're prepared to miss certain things that other people can take for granted.

I was anyway. She had a car accident, so relations were, erm, "sporadic".
Now I'm allowed to have sex with new people. This is exciting!

Can't go back to the Irish as she has a boyfriend, who is an acquaintance of mine, who doesn't know our history. And she loves him, which is sort of sweet and not to be messed with (even if I could).
Strippers are fair game of course - but only if you're not paying. Another rule - no paying for sex (directly, anyway. Things like dinners, flowers and promises you don't intend to keep are allowed)

Should you need a personal trainer, i am more than happy to step in and help you out.
My specialist area (and i do mean specialist) is the consumption of alcoholic beverages, in quantities usually unheard of.
Actually, my tolerance has gone to pot, as I'm barely drinking and training heavily at the moment. Yet I find (unlike many others) that pulling is easier when I'm drunk. Possibly because I turn from being fairly charming and decent (I'm told - not that I believe it) when sober to being unspeakably cocky when battered. My specialist area (and i do mean specialist) is the consumption of alcoholic beverages, in quantities usually unheard of.
Hmm.

Is this an advert or plea for help?
Both. To explain:1) I am absolutely floored by losing the woman I love, despite it being largely my fault. So I have posted on here in a cathartic way.
2) It is an advertisement that in order to compensate for the black hole in the middle of my chest, I will focus on behaving as disgustingly as possible for as long as I can get away with it.
Hal, this is a massive disappointment of a thread. Were you some callow newbie to Ph you would be ripped apart for posting the worst kind of attention w
edom.
I was expecting much much more interest thatn "I'm single, been w
king, been to the gym, off on the pull."
I certainly expect better of you from your next post thread on the subject, It will have to involve Alcohol, strippers, friends, frined's mothers and unfeasibly large amounts of shame to have any chance of redeeming this non-thread.
