Yes but we are talking in the hundreds not thousands.

This is the first time I have worked at a job that pays them and to me they only seem to de motivate.

For instance I hear people saying things like were not getting a bonus for this I'll take my time.

Yes, I can make an additional approx 30% if I meet a combination of targets, some company-wide revenue and profit targets, some personal objective targets. What is being argued on the other thread is that if the company ends up in the st, I shouldn't get my bonus. Not true IMHO. If I hit my targets, I get what I am entitled to, or I walk.

Yes i do, but as our parent company in china keeps moving the goalposts, then head office in dartford reduces each year. Mind you, how else is the md in dartford going to afford his new m5!

I did up until the beginning of this year; we were bought by another company who doesn't do any form of bonus scheme, so the amount that would be our bonus if the company had achieved 100% of its sales forecast was added onto our normal pay.

Yes - but its not part of my contract.

Hence they have pulled the plug on it for 2009, can be up to 24% of basic salary, based all on our own site/corporate performance.

I get PRP (profit related pay) every year. PRP is an annual payment made with April's salary and is an amount equal to a percentage of the previous year's salary - last year's was about 17.5%. The percentage paid is determined by the amount of profit made by the company in that financial year. It's nice to have, especially when you're one of the few who manages your money sensibly and therefore doesn't simply have to use it to pay credit cards off... but it's also slightly unfair in that it bears no relation to personal performance and, due to the way it's worked out, means that someone who's wage is twice as much stands to get twice as much PRP, when in reality their need for a bigger bonus is less because of their higher wage and they might not have worked as hard! Still, can't complain. Should be a good bonus this year as business had been strong over the last 12 months and most of our sales have been to countries who's currencies have strengthened against the pound, so we've been able to get more pounds for the Euros, Dollars, etc. that we've been paid by our customers.

Yes, it's a fairly big part of my wages. But it's purely performance based- If I don't perform well I don't get paid. Simple.

Well, I started this thread as I was curious about how widespread the bonus culture is.

I get a bonus, which is more about my grade than anything else. It works out at 5% of my salary, based on agreed personal objectives (SMART) and 5% based on business performance, which theoretically we all affect.

So assuming everthing happens, after Golden Gordon and mis best mate Steven Darling have had their wedge, I end up with about 2 weeks net salary.

used to have one, then they sent a notice of contract change a few wks ago... guess what was changed...

this is from a very large IT company, making $m's... not a propped up government backed company.

Yes, 10% of earnings, calculated from the last bonus was paid. Technically it is 'holiday pay' rather than a bonus, but thats just for political reasons.
