EWING SCHOOL FOR AUTISM AND SEVERE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE IMPAIRMENT IN DIDSBURY,MANCHESTER,M20.
THIS SCHOOL IS THE LAST SCHOOL IN THE GREATER MANCHESTER AREA WHICH CATERS FOR HIGH FUNCTIONING AUTISTIC AND SEVERE COMMUNICATION DIFFICULTIES.IT TAKES CHILDREN AGE 5-16 years MANY OF THESE CHILDREN HAVE ALREADY BEEN EXCLUDED FROM MAINSTREAM SCHOOL AND HAVE FOUND A SAFE AND SECURE PLACE WHICH IS CONDUSIVE TO THEIR CONDITION,AND WHICH ENABLES THEM NOT JUST TO GET THROUGH THE EDUCATION SYSTEM BUT ALSO TO ACHIEVE,OFTEN TO A VERY HIGH STANDARD.
SOMETIMES IN THE NOT SO CONVENTIONAL AREAS OF EDUCATION BUT IN THE ARTS AND SCIENCES AND LESS ACHIEVABLE PARTS OF THE CURRICULUM.
NOT ALL OF OUR CHILDREN ARE LIKE RAIN MAN BUT SOME HAVE THE SAME FOIBLES AND INTERESTING TALENTS

I dont have a child at the school but i do know how important this is.
I have two Aspies. one in mainstream grammar with a little bit of support and one who had to go private.
these kids have a lot to offer, and society is failing them fast.............
