is it my imagination, or are a vast majority of the back benchers thick, illiterate and /or overweight??
WTF? Half of them don't seem to be able to string a sentence together. A bit scary that these people RUN THIS COUNTRY.
They wouldn't last 5 minutes in the real world, would they? Or am I being harsh?

Undoubtedly quality is variable as it is in any area of life; and some otherwise capable folk can't actually speak well, especially in a formal setting or under pressure. It's not generally an intuitive skill and many back benchers make only infrequent speeches or ask occasional Qs.
See this all the time in local authorities where councillors who are privately articulate and well-informed make gaffe after gaffe in the debating chamber. Have to say, the vast majority of the public speakers that come along to make presentations are also pretty inept in the verbal communication department too. Doubt the Commons is worse off than anywhere but perhaps the environment and pressures just expose it more...
