Getting to the O2 tonight.....

Going to watch a gig at the O2 tonight.

What is best way to get there?

I have driven there once and parked in the car park provided but it was utter carnage upon departure after the gig as it was some sort of free for all on the exit.

So my first question, is there anywhere close enough to park. ie. residential roads / reasonably priced car parks.

What about the tube? Is North Greenwich walkable?

I was actually interested to hear of the experiences of people actually getting there as sometimes those 'getting there' pieces are all well and good until it comes to actually doing it!

North Greenwich on the jubilee line is right next to the O2 so it's an option is you can get on the tube easily enough. Otherwise, you could always park for free at the nearby Cinema (closer) or Retail Park (a little futher away) - buses are quite frequent.

We get train into Marylebone, then Baker St then its tube all the way to North Greenwich.
Its very good on the way there.
The problem is the queues to get back onto the tube. Its fairly quick but the last train home from Marylebone is around 12:10am and last time we only caught it by the skin of our teeth....

depends where you're coming from, but the thames clipper service is the best way by far.

Here's how it's done.....

You get on a private boat at Westminster Bridge. You're immediately in the company of Brian May and his daughter Emily, Juliette Lewis, Jimmy Page's wife and young children and Roger Daltrey amongst others. You are then passed a nice glass of champers and some canapes while you motor gently up the Thames to take your stage-side seat at the O2 for the biggest Gig of the Century. At 9PM Led Zeppelin come on and blow the roof off the place.

Oh wait a minute. That was me wasn't it?

Depending on where you are coming from and therefore going back to......

I use the car park in Docklands that is above the cinema complex, costs under £5 and is fully lit and covered by cameras. Takes 10 mins to walk to Canary Wharf tube, onto North Greenwich and 2 mins to walk to O2. From car park on way home it is easy to get back on A13 and then quickly back to Essex, onto A12, into central London etc.
