Selling a diamond ring
Discussion
I tried a couple of times selling an emerald ring on Ebay. No luck. Not that there was no interest or that there wasnt anyone interested. Simply people were too cautious. Seems fair, but its a pretty easy and simple thing to fake and hence people steer well clear, unless its a silly bargain or that you have enough evidence that you are a shop or trader for example.
I might give it one more go, but I will take the ring I have to a specialist and see what I can do from there.

HOw much was it and where did you get it?
Be prepared for the fact that you will not een get half what you paid for it.
It cost me £800 from GoldSmiths. Its an 18 carat white gold, 1/4 carat diamondBe prepared for the fact that you will not een get half what you paid for it.
GOod luck though.
Id be very interested to know what you get offered and sell it for ultimately.
Sorry to butt in but I am in a similar situation, I have a diamond engagement ring that has been passed down to me and I won't ever use it and thus would prefer to swap it for a ring I would use or considering how unlikely it is I will ever get married something useful and car related!
Other than ebay is there anywhere you can sell old diamond rings? The ring in question is quite old fashioned but very nice, the trouble is most jewelers will only give scrap price and the ring is perfect, there must be some forums somewhere that someone would buy it from?

i'd probably take to a reputable jewellers 1st and get them to value it - as if for insurance purposes.Other than ebay is there anywhere you can sell old diamond rings? then decide where to sell it.
or, failing that, will you take £6 for it?
