Mate of SWMBO was over last night, I was chatting to her bloke about cars and took him to the garage to show him the kit car. What with new baby etc I'm a bit of a forgetful tit at the mo and forgot to lock the side door of the garage - its in our back garden.

Get up this morning and see said door open. Hmm. Go in and see the place pretty trashed and our two Specialized Mtn bikes gone off their rack. bks. They didn't take anything else - none of the tools or touch the car. Police coming later as they touched loads of stuff to move it to get to the bikes, but not holding out any hope.

So, if you live between petersfield and pompey and see two happy looking chavs struggling to ride their £1500 bikes because they have SPD pedals, run the little fkers over for me...

So you show your gf's mates bloke your garage, etc and then forget to lock it behind you. Then that night you have the misfortune of being burgled...

Can't remember - the wife is checking now. I hope so! Going to take a walk up to the park later - probably local kids or they would have had the tools. They needed a bit of work too so I'll let the local ironmongers know as he fixes bikes up.

years in the city, nothing happens. Move to the countryside - thieving pikeys. Utterly pissed off. What's even more frustrating is we were up all night with newborn and heard nothing at all, despite they had to move loads of crap to get to them.

Happened to me a few years ago! the bds got away with my Marin my fishing rods and some tools! police didnt really help untill I found some of the tools and fishing gear in a second hand shop! Police found out who had done it and he only got a warning! It turned out my brother new who this guy was so he went round and kicked ten bells out of him!

smile

The thing that angers me about stuff like this is if, IF, they get caught, they couldnt care less. There really is no deterent for them. If you get caught, you get a record at best. They. Just. Dont. Care!

Do you trust him? I'm not one for coincidences, but it seems odd to me that the time you forget to lock the door you're unlucky enough to be burgled.

Ours wasn't the only house to get done it turns out. Couple of weeks ago the lock ups over the road got done too. I'm mostly annoyed that I didn't lock the door, or the french doors into the house as its so damn quiet round here. Very naive I know. frown

Happened to me a while back. Some little twunts broke in and nicked my bike. I was livid at the time. So, about 3 weeks later, I'm looking on ebay for a bike and lo and behold, there it is! With a paypal account ffs!

So, I called the cops, contacted ebay, paypal and then sent the seller and email saying it was mine, I had receipts and serial numbers, who I had contacted and I wanted it back.

They came up with some lame story (bought off a guy somewhere) but they dropped the bike off to me at work that afternoon.

Of course, in the mean time I had bought a replacement, but still figured it was a good result.

So, my advice is to scour ebay and Gumtree...
