Sad state of affairs. At £1 a line coke has now moved from the being the sole preserve of the class of people who'd nick Waitrose bags down to the riff raff that would steal Asda ones (if they could find any).10 Pence Short said:

Cost pure and simple. Bottle of white cider is a couple of quid and will get you pickled for most of a day. Heroine/Crack/Coke habit could cost £500 - £1k a week. If ciggies were treated in the same way as coke they would probably cost £100 a pack.

All comes down to cost of habit against legitimate income.
Cost of heroin or gambling habbits quickly exceeds income wheras alcohol doesn't. They do however in some cases commit crime to fund it.

Empirical evidence in Holland suggests that is exactly the case.Most Dutch teenagers try weed, get bored and move on.
We've got the highest level of teenage drug use in Europe. We also demonise drug use the most out of any nation in Europe.
