Are these run as a profitable enterprise?

I mean does the company actually make money or are they run as a 'benefit to employees.

Does anyone know if they are profitable costs involved and profits say for 100 young and junk food mad employees?

Well the coffee machine in my company is free, so I'd certainly class it as a benefit.

i was under the impression you pay to rent one and the company that provides it takes the profits. otherwise whats the point?

Yes, free coffee but what about the drinks and snacks ones etc?

Yes they are run as a money-making enterprise. Whether or not they make a profit is going to be down to the individual machine's "audience".

Must be pretty profitable in my office. The price they charge for two Mars bars buys a pack of five at the supermarket!

normally a company hires a machine from a supplier and gets a percentage of its takings.

If your thinking about hiring one think of the running costs of the machine and also get out clause in any contract

20p for a coffee at our place.
Hence we bought a £7.79 coffee maker from Argos and take it in turns to buy a £1.30 bag of coffee from Asda once a week...

We have a coffee machine, but it isn't a benefit.

It is rank.

Most folk bring their own tea/coffe and sugar in.
