Titanium or Tungsten wedding bands?
Discussion
Lady PG and I are getting hitched in the not too distant future (December this year, or February next) and whilst I'm happy to wear a wedding ring I'd rather something a little more to my taste than the usual.
Lady PG's engagement ring is platinum, and so she is getting a platinum band, but I'd rather something a little more industrial, being an engineer and all.
Anyone know somewhere that can do nice, simple bands in Titanium, Tungsten or similar?

Hiya, me and the OH had this conversation with a jeweller (?sp) at a wedding fayre last weekend. He seemed a jolly chap and explained all about different wedding bands. We didnt talk about tungsten but as far as Titanium goes....if you're going to buy it get it from Argos for £10...its not precious at all and impossible to resize cause they're not mallable (?sp).
HTH good luck with the plans......

Im guessing this is the new "This is the worst [insert comment] thread EVER"I have a platinum ring with 2 strips of "mottled" 22k white gold running around the ring. The mottled appearance really blends the wear and tear and is subtle yet tasteful. Bonus is that I can have it re sized or repaired unlike tungsten or titanium.
TBH there are almost limitless designs for Titanium, Tungsten, Platinum and now Palladium and depending on what you have to spend I'd say sketch out a design or 2 off the top of your head and see what matches or appeals to you.

Titanium wedding band for me as well. Inlay will be unique as well with a two silver inlays that have been blackened, which will give a dark grey appearance. It'll be custom made like the engagement and wedding companion that MsT is getting.

A mate of mine has a (non-specific-use) Tungsten ring. Not least because he is an industrial engineering type and most conventional metals are knackered in no time flat. So far it seems to be holding up well. As for wedding bands, if you wanted one that looked conventional, you could always go for Titanium Nitride.

Only 19$!
But it is actually a fitting for a rifle or something. Would that make it s shotgun wedding?

I use similar rings when doing plumbing. Look the same, feel the same, weigh the same, but cost about 19 cents each. Only 19$!

I have a Tungsten band which has a nice weight to it and has is still as good as new after 2 years. Also you can bore people at dinner parties with amazing facts about how hard it is etc.
Mail ordered it from the states as they were not widely available when I got mine : http://www.tungstenworld.com/
Had a Titanium ring before which is much lighter in weight but will gather scratches eventually.

jeweller I used said for bands use white gold if you want the "silver" colour as can be polished etc etc
He gave me a Tungsten Carbide ring so I could get used to wearing one - marvellous thing has not scratched at all yet and has a good colour to it. Also dirt cheap compared to platinum/gold. Wifey to be is having white gold - I will have a white gold one for some days and the "wolfraim" for daily use.
jeweller is in nottingham .... don't have to go states-side!

I've heard that mixing metals isn't good for longevity, so it'll be platinum for her. I quite fancy tungsten, purely for its hardness, Ti would be nice but not if it's going to scratch easy.
And whoever posted the "let me google that for you" link, thanks for getting it out of the way nice and early. I had already googled the subject but not much of interest came up.
