Just doing some calculations;
If I was to retire early and get a (considerably)reduced pension can I still claim a job seekers allowance whilst looking for alternative employment?
Having paid National Insurance for 35 years and never been out of work or off sick I suspect the system will still work against me but interested in informed views

Any savings or income will go against you claiming JSA, and you need to prove you are looking for work. IIRC the maximum you are allowed in the bank is £3000.

The best you could hope for with savings and a pension payment would be for keep up your NI contribution.

you might get away with JSA Contribution based as this is NOT means tested .. that lasts for 6months .. but you MUST attend every two weeks and possibly go to job interviews, even if the job is NOT right for you..

Thats income based JSA, if you have paid enough contributions there is a JSA you can claim that doesnt take into account savings IIRC

But as said you will have to prove you are looking for work, and you will get forced into doing schemes and the like.

If i were to retire from one company and look for work at another then imho that isn't fraudulent.
Indeed if one was receiving a pension then one can set sights lower in terms of appropriate salary put simply if you are on say £60k get a £35k pension then one can start looking at a new job paying £25k+ instead of say £60k if you didnt have the pension cushion
I believe Police can retire at 50, start getting their pension and then many look for further gainful employment
