It's undefined (IE nobody really knows).

Something divided by zero is whatever it was to start with. Divide by zero does not equal multipy by infinity.

In theory the result is one, this was often used in those silly proofs that weren't.

You're right! Anything divided by 0 will be infinitive, regardless of what the original nothing was. 0 x 0 will always be 0.

The slightly dull answer is, it depends.
At A-level you are told 'you can't divide by zero', but at more advanced levels dividing by zero can either equal zero or infinity, or anything in-between depending on what you are trying to prove and what dimension you are in or summing, but I stop listening at that point.

'Zero divided by zero' is 'Nothing shared between no-one', hence the error.

Because you can't share something if you have no-one to share it between.

if you set a=0 and take b to the limit (b->0) then the answer is 0.

if you set b=0 and take a to the limit (a->0) then the answer is infinity.
