It was being discussed on Jeremy Vine before 1pm too.
The supermarkets have made big differences but still councils are saying "you're rubbish, do more", all the while they can't even take the current amount of recycling let alone any more!
Good point raised by business guy on Vine; he said that if they were to have less packaging they'd have far more wasted and spoiled food (he did mention the figures, I forget) but all the "lobby groups" figures completely disregard that fact.

This gets right on my tits, especially when the supermarkets are charging for carrier bags in the name of the environment. In fact I got so angry one afternoon that www.carrierbagcon.com

And they used to be able to sell most of it, but now prices have slumped it's costing money to process the stuff
