Ebbsfleet/Greenhithe

I am looking at some newbuilds around here and would appreciate some views on the area.

I would be looking to commute into central London, but I understand that the new superline, or whatever it's called, should get into St Pancras into 19 minutes.

Any comments would be appreciated.

My office is 5 miles from Ebbsfllet, to give it its real name Northfleet, or even worse Swanscombe.
People from Gravesend look down on Swanscombe.

Its a sthole, pure and simple.

There's been quite some uplift in prices over the last couple of years due to the station. However there is something like 20 years of building planned down there.

And unless they are going to do something incredibly innovative, it'll still be a sthole.

but when the fast rail link comes on line later in the year it'll be a sthole that can get you to central London in 19 minutes.

Which newbuilds are you looking at?

mate of mine used to live in Greenhithe, owned a newbuild townhouse thingy near to bluewater .... (reservoire close or something i fink ... )

Nice enough place i guess ... seem to recall not much by way of local battlecruisers etc, but his missus used to commute to central london daily on train with no problems (give or tak ethe odd strike, brand of leaf or type of snow flake ...)

Have to agree - you may find a nice newbuild but you won't have to travel very far at all to find yourself in very unpleasant areas.

The development at Greenhithe is called Waterstone Park. The development at Ebbsfleet is, supposedly 5 minutes from the new station, and called Springhead Park.

Erm not sure on reflection about moving out if I will be in a middle or very close to the middle of council estates.

Not even council estates (although they exist) but one of the towns named on this thread is possibly the epicentre of 6-fingered families in the UK, with all that entails, and another (old) development not very far away has some ridiculously high crime rate and I believe has been featured on TV as a result.

Waterstone park is on top of Bluewater.... the actual development has I believe got gyms and swimming pools , all of which you will be paying for via service charges. The traffic will be dreadfui when B'water is busy.

Springhead park is new I think, and has an awful lot of shared ownership going in.

Springhead Park is out. I may check out Waterstone Park – Scotal is it worth venturing out to check the area – I’ve only been to Bluewater once and I must say the traffic was awful.

Waterstone Park is meant to be ok, but if you want to live in Norf Kent, there are much nicer areas.
My big worry about buyin newbuild round there is the sheer number of homes they are planning to shoehorn into the area..... the secondary market could really suffer.

Bluewater Traffic, especially near Christmas is dire, despite the widenign of the A2, which has simply meant the slack jaws now block 4 lanes rather than 3.

Thanks Scotal, must say it isn't North Kent itself that attracts me just more the idea of being able to buy a nice house for the money! 4 beds are on for circa 299k around there and you would think there will be a further discount on that price.
