How to change a garage door lock?

Lost the one and only key to the Henderson garage door lock, I can still access the garage by the side door though.
Is it possible to just replace the barrell myself or do I need a locksmith to do this?
Can the lock be drilled out? (seen this in films not sure if its true )

If it is a "T" bar, there are two screws that hold the whole thing in place. Take it off and replace the whole thing. Costs about £5 and 5 mins of time.

Just replace the whole lot. If you drill it out it will be knackered anyway. Replaced mine a year or so back as it was so worn you could turn the lock with a 1p piece in the slot. I got mine from here:- http://www.lockshop-warehouse.co.uk/acatalog/Copy_...

10-15 minute job to change it and certainly cheaper than calling a locksmith.

Remember with the Henderson there are about 6 types that all look the same but are different. Check the spindle length. Does it have a twist. Also check the screw post length. It really is only a 2 minute job if you get the correct one.

The lock on my garage is on its way out at the momment. I have been looking for somewhere on the net that does all of the replacement lock types for a while. Ones on the highstreet etc only seem to stock one sort. Ta very muchly!
