New TV broke and now gone
Discussion
I bought a 42" plasma end of November last year. To be honest it was never right, skin tones were orange and fine black lines appeared every now and then.
It started to get worse with thick black lines on the screen and the screen blacking out and flashing on again.
Anyway to get to the point. They took it away yesterday and said if I have'nt heard anything in 10 days ring them.
Am I entitled to a better service than this and if so how do I go about getting it?
Any advice would be good

Call them. Give them some grief.
Are you in Europe? If so then you get statutory minimum 3 years fair use warranty. However, the draw back is that the vendor can take their time in fixing it and need not replace the good, repair is good enough. Oh, and they don't need to leave you with anything either. Win some and lose some.

If you contact your local trading standards they should be able to confirm that the retailer is liable under the "fit for purpose" statement for upto 6 years from purchase. (ie you should never nead an extended warranty)
So check out your rights with trading standards and if it is under 6years old then get it back down there - IIRC they retailer is allowed to make small allowances for wear and tear/depreciation

I always find the firm but polite approach works well. If they don't play ball it's time to start quoting various trade acts that are actually on your side for once.
