Hey guys, I’ve noticed a few posts about skiing/snowboarding being posted so I was looking for some advice. My girlfriend and I are looking at going away skiing/snowboarding in December!

Does anybody have any recommendations on resorts in Europe and also how easy would it be to rent the equipment, for example skis half the week, snowboards the other?

Cheers!

Just come back from boarding in the 3 valleys (Val Thorens, Meribel, Coucheval) and would highly recommend it. Amazing conditions this year.
Thorens is the highest of the 3 resorts and thus the "safest bet" for snow. It does get bloody cold though, you may need a balaclava. It was down to -20 in the day this year.
Courcheval is wonderful but incredibly expensive (e.g. EUR10 a pint!), one for the oligarchs.

I haven't been to Val d'isere but have had good reports from there.

However, due to the horrendous exchange rate, you may be able to get a better deal going to the US (say Breckenridge) or Canada (say Whistler). The lower accommodation and food prices should offset against the increased airfare.
