Virgin Atlantic 'Upper Class' Flights

Evening,
I'm looking to book my holidays for this year and considering a few places at the moment.
Looking to start off with the flights.
Was wondering if anybody has flown with Virgin Atlantic especially in their upper class seats?
Any general feedback or advice is much appreciated.
Haven't been on holiday for a while and would like to make it a bit more special this year.

UC is rather nice with great service on the ground and in the air, I would say it is superior to BA Club. However you can't beat BA First if you want to make it really special.

The fully flat bed looks good to me, especially for the ONF home.

Rather like Upper Class myself, a bit slicker than BA Club. If two of you are going check the seating layouts as the only UC layout I've flown in is 3 seats horizontally (well slightly angled) across the cabin which makes talking to who you're travelling with a bit trickier than side-by-side layouts.

I presume you are either changing career and becoming a cabin attendant, or spending taxpayer cash on a jolly.
Give me my money back before you go anywhere sunshine... and then only then will Skegness Butlins be permissible.

I've flown cattle class twice in the last two years due to using package holidays as a result of me leaving everything to the last minute. The holidays themselves weren't bad, but the flights! Suffice to say I shall never be flying anything less than business class ever again unless absolutely necessary. Or does everyone on Piston Heads travel in extreme luxury?
Virgin's upper class is very good. BA I have found have generally lowered their standards the last few times I've used them, not as good as they were a few years back though the pre-flight side of things is much better. I'd take Virgin UC over BA Club, but BA's first is a bit better still.

Just got back from holiday
Flew out Virgin UC and Back BA Business Class (Club World?)
BA works better for us as we were travelling with 2 kids (8 & 5) and they can sit in the middle of a 4 seat section and it works well,
Virgin UC MUCH better for an "Adults" trip. Nice bar and generally better atmosphere throughout the whole trip than BA. Virgin UC feels a more special and if travelling as a couple is a genuinely pleasurable experience, as opposed to the hell that is travelling with kids, no matter what class
BA first a notch up, but quite a lot more ££.

Upper Class - a few tips:
1. Make sure you join Virgin Flying club.
2. Flying from Heathrow. Their 10 min check in is superb. They've a dedicted
check in area and security lane. I suspect the time saved now is
immaterial as T3 won't be packed with travellers.
3. Upper Class lounge opens at 7.am. A superb oasis and great hospitality. I
second earlier posts and book a 'treatment'. A few hours spent there is a
great way to kick off your vacation. Great bar/restaurant/media
room/pool/business/library. A good excuse to check in as early as
possible. Gatwick's not too bad though:
restaurant/buffet/bar/magazines.
4. At the lounge, make sure your allocated seat is away from the bar and
loos. If you are flying on a 747-400 get a seat as far forward on the
lower deck as possible. The view out of the windows is great. The cabin
curves in nicely making the view a bit like a panorama. The upper deck has
no bar but feel alike a large private jet as there are relatively few
seats/beds up there. Window seats preferred. No aisle seats upstairs
5. If you are shorter than 6'4" the flat beds are fine. If not, you can feel
a little constricted as the feet area tapers in. Nice duvets, pillows are
a bit too small. The (totty)cabin crew are v friendly and will explain
fully how everything works. As for all flghts, if there is turbulance
during the flight no ammount of comfort can get you to sleep,
unless you dose yourself to the eyeballs with Nytol.
6. Keep your Sleep Suit. Good for D.I.Y.
7. As far as I know T3 is the only terminal with a Virgin Revivals lounge:
shower, clothes press and breakfast.. nice way to end a trip. Your driver
can wait 'till you have revived.
