I needed new contacts last June so got an eye test at £50 and then got fitted up for contacts, only problem being the only ones they recommended were the true vision (aka the really bloody expensive ones) as they only dealt with that company.... so reluctantly i agreed on the provisor that when the 6 months ended i could get any ones i wanted via the internet, i just needed the prescription that i had paid £50 for, they told me that should be a problem.
Now it comes up i need some new ones and wanted to go back to a brand i used to use and tried to get them on the internet (asda contact lenses) and gave them my old opticians details so they can get the prescription off them and authorise it that that is my prescription. I have now been told by asda that my opticians are now refusing to authorise anything other than the most expensive dailies on the market, stating that they were the ones i was fitted with (due to them having no others and after i had paid) and i have to get them again.
Now surely, my prescription is just that???
-2.75 left eye (no issues with eye)
-3.25 right eye (no issues with eye)
and i should be able to get the ones i want (can now afford) and not just the ones they say?
The only way that asda can tell me to get out of this is to go to a new opticians, but that will mean a new charge and probably paying over the odds for contacts again, is there anything i can do so that im not getting shafted for the prices of contact lenses?

I had an eye test last week at my local small opticians. With the retinal scan thingy that photos your eye etc it was £50. Money well worth paying in my eyes (excuse the pun!!!) Mind you, who pays £50 for an eye test?
Stuff them and buy online. Try http://www.lensway.co.uk/ and get what you want.
I agree that they are taking the piss. Go to the opticians and ask for a copy of the prescription. I believe that they have to give it to you. Unfortunately legislation changed recenlty and they have been given even more Gestapo like powers and so are using them.
In Europe, I can buy C lenses and use them. I have to read the packet and take responsibilty for myself. Here I have to have a sight test and a contact lense check, which to be honest is little more than checking for corneal abrasions (bloody obvious if you have one as they hurt. a lot). I have no idea why we are all treated like idiots. In my experience, if you treat someone like an idiot, that is how they behave.
