Itunes/ WMA Help

I've finally decided to sort out my itunes/ipod. But problem is a lot of my music (around 7gb) is in WMA format. Itunes keeps converting but gives up part way through and mess's the whole thing up. Can anyone suggest and easier way of doing things i.e. software that will quickly convert to mp3 before i put into itunes, before i have a broken window and computer.
