Ebay - how to sell
Discussion
OH's laptop is for sale on ebay, its ending in a few hours. Not prejudging some people, but I've heard stories on here that when they sold an item, the other person 'claimed' it hadn't got to them, the other party got refunded the money and the seller also lost the item.
How can you stop this? If I send it by recorded delivery, withdraw the money from paypal on same day, will this be enough?

Easiest way is only accepting paypal and only sending to a paypal confirmed address.
This will be a problem if you havn't stated it in the listing though.
Things like, only people with above 10 feedback can bid etc etc
This advice isn't much use as its too late.
So my advice would be to send it recorded with insurance. If paypal ask, merely offer them the tracking number where it states the item has been delivered.

Thanks for advice guys. At the moment its in a bidding war with people with over 75 feedback, so hoopefully should be ok.
How can paypal claw back the money? Should I remove card details?
Also, strange you say avoid collection. I presume you mean pay by paypal and then collect? I stated on the advert that it is cash only on collection. I presume they have no comeback with ebay/paypal if this is the case?

I believe Paypal can claw money from your bank account, so be careful!
Yes they can but only via the ebay fees when they are automatically taken.I sold a PS3 back in August, guy bought it and paid4 days after winning via Paypal. I shipped it via UPS 2 days after receiving payment. Somehow i had missed 2 messages via eBay asking when it was going to be sent as he wanted it for the weekend (i shipped it Friday) Had i have seen these i would obviously had responded but wouldnt have had time to sent it any earlier bearing it in mind he didnt pay for it till wednesday.
Anyway, i had emailed him by this time with the tracking number and tracked it myself. It was signed for on Monday afternoon. I came home from work on Tuesday to a Paypal dispute claiming he hadn't received it, after contacting Paypal who were very understanding but had to follow procedure and contacting him giving him the day/time it was signed for, who signed for it as well as the deliver drivers name and a copy of the GPS map showing his van outside the guys house at the time of the delivery (i work for UPS so this was easy) He then claimed he recieved it but it didnt work. Well it did as it was only 2 months old, it transpired it was in HD mode and had to be reset to be used in analogue mode, something i didnt know at the time otherwise would have done before sending it.
After giving all the details i never heard from him again be he didnt close the dispute so i had to wait 6 weeks for it to close automatically. They couldnt take any money back from me as i had transferred the balance as soon as i received it no had a negative paypal balance, it was only when they automatically took my fees via Paypal from my bank that the whole amount went, some £240. I got it back when the dispute closed but it knocked my confidence in Paypal after using them since day one
